How to Set Up Word Search Feature

Customall has introduced a Personalized Word Search feature. This allows your customers to customize the words used in a word search puzzle.



The article below will guide you through the setup process for the word search feature:


  1. Go to Artwork editor → Click on the + icon → Select Word Search


  1. The Layer Settings section includes:



- Depend on another layer:


Enable this layer to be dependent on other word search layers, ensuring identical attributes.


- Default Setting


  • Words: Enter words here.



Only alphabetic characters (A-Z, a-z) are allowed. Do not use special characters or numbers.Identical words are not permitted. (e.g., "Sophia" - "Sophia")Separate words by pressing space or "enter."


  • Max words: Set the maximum number of words that customers can input.
  • Layout: Click the Randomize Layout button to shuffle the word arrangement.
  • Enable diagonal: Tick this box to allow diagonal word placement in the puzzle.



  • Aspect ratio: Select the preferred aspect ratio from the available list.



  • Background color: Enter a hex color code to set the background color.



To change the background opacity, input a number between 0 and 100 in the ‘A’ field.Lower numbers = more transparent, higher numbers = more solid.


  • Padding: Enter a number to define the space between the frame and the word search puzzle.



  • Font family: Choose a font from the list, or click Upload Font to add a new one.



  • Cell spacing: Set the space between letters in the puzzle.
  • Normal text color: Enter a hex code for the color of unhighlighted letters.
  • Highlight text color: Enter a hex code for the highlighted letters.



  • Show highlight: Tick this box to show the highlight when a word is found.

Once the Show highlight feature is enabled, you can choose a highlight style: Capsule, Circle, or Solid.



Border color: Enter a hex color code to change the border color.

Border width: Enter a number to adjust the border thickness.

Highlight padding: Enter a number to adjust the space between the highlight border and the letter.

Highlight background color: Enter a hex code to set the background color of the highlighted word.


To adjust highlight background opacity, enter a value between 0 and 100 in the ‘A’ field.


- Personalization


  • Allow buyers to personalize: Enable this option to allow customers to enter their own words.
  • Required: Check if this field must be filled for placing an order.
  • Label: Display the name of the word search field on the storefront.
  • Placeholder: Temporary text displays in the input field until an action is taken.
  • Help text: Additional explanations displayed when needed.



  • Show regenerate layout button: Tick the box to allow customers to shuffle the layout when previewing.



- Apply to all templates


Enable word search layer settings and features from one template to be applied to other templates with the same layer ID within the artwork.


  1. On the Storefront


Input words into the Words box to generate the word search. Use the spacebar or 'enter' key to separate words.
