How to Create a Shape Cut Layer in Artwork

Some print providers require a black shape cut layer when fulfilling custom shape products. The Shape Cut feature in Customall helps you automatically generate a black image that changes based on personalized options selected by the customer. This saves you time when preparing shape cut files and processing orders.

How to Use the Shape Cut Feature

Step 1: Select the layer or group you want to add the shape cut to.
Step 2: Press Control + B (on Windows) or Command + B (on Mac).
Step 3: Move the shape cut layer to match the placement required by your fulfillment template.

After adding the shape cut layer, a black shape will appear and it will automatically change based on the customer’s personalized selections:

In the Layer Settings

You can view which layer or group the shape cut is linked to. It also shows the ID of the linked element.

If you change the ID of a layer or group, the shape cut layer will automatically update to match the new ID.

To delete a shape cut layer, click on the shape cut layer → Click the Remove this layer button

Or, right-click on the shape cut layer → choose your desired action

In the Advanced Settings

You can enable the following advanced options for the shape cut layer:

Enable Conditions: Set rules for when the shape cut appears
Exclude from Mockup: Hide the shape cut from the product preview
Exclude from Print File: Do not include the shape cut in the print file
Exclude from Artwork: Hide this layer from both the preview and the print file
