# Curve Text Layer

# How to Add Curve Text V2

Go to the **Artwork Editor** → Click the **+** icon next to **Add image** → Select **Curve Text v2** (at the bottom of the list).
A new layer called **Curve Text v2 #1** shows up in the **Layers** panel.

When you click the layer, you see blue guide lines instead of a box:
* A full circle that the text follows;
* Two curved lines, above and below the text;
* Six dots, three at each end of the curve;
* The rotate button on top.
The guide lines only help you design. They are not printed.
# How to Change the Curve

Drag the dots at the ends of the curve.
* **Middle dot** (on the text line): drag it along the circle to make the curve longer or shorter. Both ends move together. The circle and the middle of the text stay where they are.
* **Top or bottom dot**: drag it away from the center to make the whole layer bigger. Drag it toward the center to make it smaller. Everything grows or shrinks together, including the text size and the curve. The other end stays where it is.
* **Rotate button**: drag it to turn the layer.

**Tip:** Want an exact curve length? Click **Transform** in the toolbar and type a number in **width**. For this layer, width is the curve length. You cannot change the height.
# How to Set the Curve Radius

The curve radius sets how much the curve bends. In the toolbar, click the **dashed circle** icon (next to **Shadow**). Then move the **Curve radius** slider, or type a number.

You can pick any number from **-5000** to **5000**. When you change the radius, the middle of the text stays in the same place. Changing the font does not change the radius.
# How to Make the Text Fit the Curve

In **Layer Settings**, keep **Auto resize to fit container** turned on (it is on when you add the layer). The text then changes size to fill the whole curve.
* **Long text** gets smaller, but never smaller than **Min font size**.
* **Short text** gets bigger, but never bigger than **Max font size**.

#### Use one fixed font size

Turn off **Auto resize to fit container**. Min and Max font size are hidden. Type the size you want in the font size box in the toolbar. The text keeps this size, short or long.

#### When the text is too long

Sometimes the text is still too long at the Min font size, or at your fixed size. Then the editor shows this message once: Text doesn't fit the curved line. Shorten the text, lower the Min font size, or drag the line's ends to make it longer.

To fix it, use shorter text, set a smaller Min font size, or make the curve longer. To stop buyers from typing names that are too long, set a **Max length** in the personalization settings. Buyers never see this message.
# How to Style the Text

Click the layer. Then use the toolbar above the design:

| Tool | What it does |
| ---- | ---- |
| **Font** | Pick a font. Your uploaded fonts are here too. |
| **Font size** | Set one fixed size. Works only when auto resize is off. |
| **Text align** | Put the text on the **left**, **center** or **right** of the curve, or **justify** it |
| **Spacing** | Add space between letters (**Letter**) |
| **Color** | Change the text color |
| **Text transform** | Make the text UPPERCASE, lowercase or Default |
| **Stroke** | Add an outline around the letters |
| **Shadow** | Add a shadow |
| **Curve radius** | Change how much the curve bends |
| **Position**, **Align**, **Transform** | Move the layer and set its size |

# How to Set Up the Layer Settings
Curve Text v2 has the same settings as a normal text layer. To learn more about each one, read [Text Layer Configuration in Artwork](https://support.customall.io/en/article/text-layer-configuration-in-artwork-5ziisb/).

### Depend on another layer
Turn on **Depend on another layer** to show the text from another layer. You can also copy its style. You can even change the value, for example from years to months. See [Depend Function Feature](https://support.customall.io/en/article/depend-function-feature-18pcuvp/).

### Default Setting
* **Text box**: the text shown before your buyer types anything.
* **Auto resize to fit container**, **Min font size**, **Max font size**
* **Enable prefix** / **Enable suffix**: words added before or after your buyer's text.

### Personalization
Turn on **Allow buyers to personalize**. Then you can set:
* **Label**, **Help text**, **Placeholder**: the words your buyer sees around the text box.
* **Is required**, **Min length**, **Max length**: rules for what your buyer types. Set a Max length so names are easy to read on the curve.
* **Is numberic**, **Alphabet only**: allow only numbers, or only letters.
* **Enable initial value**: fill in the text box for your buyer.
* **Font** and **Color** switches: let your buyer pick a font or color from your list.
* **Prompt variable name**, read [Custom Prompts with Variables](https://support.customall.io/en/article/ai-filters-management-sbkzbd/#1-custom-prompts-with-variables)
Add a shape cut. To learn more, read [How to Create a Shape Cut Layer in Artwork](https://support.customall.io/en/article/how-to-create-a-shape-cut-layer-in-artwork-1jhmikn/)
# Notes
* *The text is always one line.* You cannot add a second line.
* *Pattern, gradient are not available* for this layer.
